At Coppice, we’re excited to share the news of our recent recognition at the Make UK Awards, where we celebrated our commitment to innovation and talent development in the manufacturing sector. The event, hosted by Make UK, brought together the best of British manufacturing, highlighting excellence and forward-thinking solutions that drive our industry forward. Coppice is proud to stand among the frontrunners, making strides in both technological innovation and workforce development.
Runner-Up Award for Innovation
Our biggest achievement of the evening was securing the Runner-Up position in the Innovation category. This award is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence, particularly with our groundbreaking split detection system. Developed in-house in collaboration with Armada Industries and Omron, this state-of-the-art technology automatically detects and ejects faulty aluminium containers, ensuring that every product meets our rigorous quality standards.
Our innovative approach has not only boosted production efficiency but has also improved the working environment for our employees by reducing repetitive manual quality checks. With the ability to detect defects as small as 0.3mm at speeds of up to 80 trays per minute, this system is a game-changer for quality control in the packaging industry. It exemplifies our commitment to leveraging technology to create value for our customers and improve sustainability by minimising waste.
Shortlisted for Developing Future Talent
In addition to our Innovation award, Coppice was also shortlisted in the Developing Future Talent category, a recognition of our efforts to foster growth and learning within our team. At Coppice, we believe that investing in our people is essential to building a sustainable and successful business. Over the past few years, we have implemented targeted apprenticeship programmes, in partnership with institutions like Bridgend College and TSW, to provide our employees with opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications and practical skills.
Through our structured development programmes, Coppice team members have achieved milestones in various professional fields, ranging from business administration to project management and technical training. These initiatives have resulted in multiple internal promotions, highlighting our focus on nurturing talent and rewarding commitment and excellence within our workforce. Notable success stories include Ella Shears, who progressed from a Business Administration Apprentice to a Trainee Buyer role, and Laura Iannucci-Gilbert, promoted to Internal Sales Manager after completing her ILM Level 5 certification.
A Night to Remember: Winning the "Pub Quiz" Challenge
The awards night wasn’t just about formal accolades—it also included moments of camaraderie and fun. Our team joined forces with Freight Logistics Solutions (FLS) to win the evening’s “Pub Quiz” challenge, adding an extra layer of excitement and team spirit to the event. This friendly competition brought out the best in our team, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and teamwork in everything we do.
Looking Ahead: Continuing Our Commitment to Excellence
As we reflect on our achievements, we are motivated to keep pushing boundaries in both product innovation and talent development. The recognition at the Make UK Awards reaffirms our belief that quality and innovation are the pillars of success in today’s manufacturing landscape. With a strong foundation and an unwavering commitment to sustainable practices, Coppice is well-positioned to lead the industry into the future.
We would like to extend our thanks to Make UK for this wonderful recognition, to Freight Logistics Solutions for joining us in making the night a success, and to every member of the Coppice team whose dedication and hard work made these achievements possible. Here’s to more milestones, more innovations, and a brighter future for UK manufacturing!
