At Coppice, sustainability isn’t a bolt-on—it’s built in. As part of our 2025 Sustainability Strategy, we’ve taken deliberate steps to reduce waste across every aspect of our operations, with measurable results already making a difference.

From Inspection to Innovation

One of our key breakthroughs has been the development of an award-winning Split Detection System. Designed and implemented in-house, this technology identifies micro-defects in foil trays that would otherwise lead to line stoppages or rejected batches. The result? Fewer wasted trays, smoother operations, and more consistent quality for our customers.

It’s a prime example of how operational excellence and sustainability go hand-in-hand.

A Culture of Continuous Improvement

Waste reduction isn’t just about what happens on the production floor. At Coppice, we’ve embedded continuous improvement into our culture—empowering teams across departments to identify efficiencies, eliminate unnecessary materials, and challenge the status quo.

Some recent wins include:

  • Tooling upgrades that reduce trim waste in tray production

  • Improved material yield through better nesting and cutting profiles

  • On-site reclamation of clean foil waste, fed directly back into the supply chain

Measuring What Matters

We’re not just counting kilograms—we’re tracking impact. Waste reductions are now linked to our ESG reporting process, helping us benchmark progress, inform investment, and support our customers’ own sustainability goals.

As manufacturers, we know small changes at scale can deliver real impact. That’s why we’re not just reducing waste—we’re redesigning systems to prevent it in the first place.
